About the Authors

Dr Donald Grosset BSc (Honours) MB ChB MD FRCP

Dr Donald Grosset is Consultant Neurologist at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Southern General Hospital, Glasgow, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Neurology at the University of Glasgow. He is Director of the Movement Disorder Clinic, which is run as a joint venture with Dr Graeme Macphee, Consultant Physician in Medicine for the Elderly, thereby providing the joint skills of both Neurology and Medicine to patients with Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders. Dr Grosset has dual training in Neurology and Clinical Pharmacology, hence his active research interests are in the application of new drug treatments, especially in Parkinson's disease patients. He passionately believes that more patients should be offered early opportunity of newer treatments that are being introduced in clinical research programs. His additional focus in clinical care of Parkinson's disease patients - ensuring maximum diagnostic accuracy - is reflected in recently completed research on brain scan imaging, referred to in his chapter of this book, and for which he held the position of Principal Investigator. He is on the Medical Advisory Panel of the UK Parkinson's Disease Society, holds the positions of Secretary and Treasurer of the Scottish Association of Neurological Sciences, and has published widely including the Lancet, British Medical Journal, Quarterly Journal of Medicine, British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Stroke, and Movement Disorders.
