About the Authors
Dr Donald Grosset BSc (Honours) MB ChB MD FRCP
Dr Donald Grosset is Consultant Neurologist at the Institute of
Neurological Sciences, Southern General Hospital, Glasgow, and
Honorary Senior Lecturer in Neurology at the University of Glasgow.
He is Director of the Movement Disorder Clinic, which is run as a
joint venture with Dr Graeme Macphee, Consultant Physician in
Medicine for the Elderly, thereby providing the joint skills of
both Neurology and Medicine to patients with Parkinson's Disease
and other movement disorders. Dr Grosset has dual training in
Neurology and Clinical Pharmacology, hence his active research
interests are in the application of new drug treatments, especially
in Parkinson's disease patients. He passionately believes that more
patients should be offered early opportunity of newer treatments
that are being introduced in clinical research programs. His
additional focus in clinical care of Parkinson's disease patients -
ensuring maximum diagnostic accuracy - is reflected in recently
completed research on brain scan imaging, referred to in his
chapter of this book, and for which he held the position of
Principal Investigator. He is on the Medical Advisory Panel of the
UK Parkinson's Disease Society, holds the positions of Secretary
and Treasurer of the Scottish Association of Neurological Sciences,
and has published widely including the Lancet, British Medical
Journal, Quarterly Journal of Medicine, British Journal of Clinical
Pharmacology, Stroke, and Movement Disorders.
