About the Authors
Dr Douglas MacMahon MB MS LRCP MRCS MRCP FRCP
Dr Douglas MacMahon is a Consultant Physician with Special
Responsibility for the Elderly with The Cornwall Healthcare Trust
and Honorary Senior Lecturer in the University of Plymouth, UK. He
has a particular interest in Parkinson's Disease and movement
disorders as well as in community care and rehabilitation. Dr
MacMahon has been chairman of the British Geriatrics Society (BGS)
Policy Committee and the Parkinson's Disease special interest
group. He has worked closely with the Parkinson's Disease Society
to develop the role of the specialist nurse, chaired the Nurse
Steering Group and has been an adviser on Parkinson's Disease to
the World Health Organisation. He has lectured widely, published
many articles on the above subjects and is a member of several
advisory and editorial boards. His most recent publication is
entitled "Services for Older People - The 4 H approach" and is the
result of a Winston Churchill Fellowship that he was awarded.
